English Essay by Brian Southwick

5 Favorite Places 1 ネイティブスピーカー(ALT)によるREADING

Hello everyone. I hope you enjoyed the Golden Week holidays with your family and friends. My mother and father came from America to see me and my family. It was the third time for them to come to Niigata. I took my parents to some of my favorite places in and around Niigata City. The weather was lovely, and my parents enjoyed spending Golden Week in Niigata very much.
One of my favorite places is the sea. On fine days I can see Sado Island, and sometimes even Awa Island, and I often take a walk at Yorii Beach in the evenings. When I took my parents to the beach, the sky was deep blue, and the waves sparkled. Sado Island looked like a huge animal asleep on the sea. My parents thought the view was beautiful, and they enjoyed walking in the woods nearby, too. We also went to Sakyukan, a traditional Japanese house near the Aizu Yaichi Museum. It was the first time for my parents to see an old Japanese house, and they were very impressed.
Another day I took my parents to the top of Niigata City’s tallest building, Toki Messe. From the 31st floor the view of the city was wonderful, with the sea on one side and the mountains far away. We visited the Bandai Island Art Museum, too. There were many nice paintings, most of them by Niigata artists.
I took my parents to see many other interesting places, but I will tell you about those places in my next essay.
