44 English Camp in 2009 READING (slow) (fast)

Have you ever heard of English Camp?  The Niigata City English Camp is held every year in August.  For two nights and three days the students can enjoy fun games and activities in English with ALTs.
There are many exciting things to do at English Camp.  In the woods outdoors we can enjoy orienteering and interesting nature walks.  There is a large playground for sports and games.  There is also a challenging course for disc golf.  And indoors there is a gym for basketball, badminton, and other activities.

We meet in the morning on the first day and have a welcome ceremony.  Then we make groups.  The groups usually have two or three ALTs and some students from different schools.  After we introduce ourselves we enjoy activities with the other groups.  In the afternoon we go outside for exciting games on the playground.   In the evening we can enjoy using the gym during our free time.

                   READING (slow) (fast)

After dinner on the second day we have a campfire, and each group gives a short performance.  Groups often do a short skit or sing a song.  In the morning on the last day we play more games, and after lunch all of the students get prizes.  Finally there is a closing ceremony, and then we go back home.  We will be very tired!
English Camp is a good chance for students to practice their English with foreign people from many countries. It is also a good chance to meet other students from Niigata City and to make new friends.

The camp in 2009 will be held from August 5-7, at the Maki Young People’s Center.  The center is in Nishikan Ward, not far from the sea and Mt. Kakuda, and it has a fine view of the Echigo Plain.  Sixty students from Niigata City junior high schools may join the camp.  So tell your friends about English Camp, 2009, and ask your English teachers about how to join.  The ALTs hope to see you there.
