Hello everyone.

My name is Sunil Kapoor.  Please call me Sunil.  I’m the new ALT at the Education Center in Nishikawa.  I’ll work here about one Friday each month.  I also teach at junior high and high schools in Niigata City. 

I’m from Houston, Texas in the U. S. A.  I’ve lived and worked in Niigata for many years.  I like spending time with my family and friends, watching movies, and enjoying many sports, especially skiing.

    Houston, my hometown, is the fourth-largest city in America, after New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago.  Its total population, including outside communities, is over 6 million.  And it’s still growing!  That’s about 8 times as many people as Niigata City. 

Houston is most famous for NASA and its Johnson Space Center.  Do you know about NASA?  NASA is the center for the American space industry.  It’s an interesting and popular place to visit.  And it’s not far from one of Niigata City’s sister cities, Galveston, Texas.

You may remember Mr. Brian Southwick.  He wrote for this website until last March.  He is from Louisiana, which is only a two hour drive from Houston.  He wrote many interesting essays for this website for many years.  I think he helped many of you to improve your English and learn about an American’s life in Niigata.  I hope I can also help you to continue learning English through my own writing.
