English Essay by Brian Southwick

20 Bird-watching ネイティブスピーカー(ALT)によるREADING

Hello again, everyone.  Are you enjoying the nice fall weather?  Fall is a good season for many things.  It is nice to read books and go camping in fall.  The season is also a good time to go bird-watching.
Have you ever gone bird-watching?  I went bird-watching for the first time when I was in elementary school.  My father was interested in birds, and he often took me bird-watching with him.  He bought me a pair of binoculars and a bird book, and I used them to look at birds and learn their names.  I also learned about the songs birds sing and the food they eat.  I still remember the many bird-watching trips I took with my father in junior high school.
Fall is a very good time to go bird-watching in Niigata.  Many birds fly from north to south before winter comes, so we can see new birds at the parks and lakes in the city.  There are many beautiful ducks and geese at Toyano Lagoon.  Hyoko Lake, Sakata Lagoon, and Fukushima Lagoon are other places we can see many water birds.  There are interesting birds in the trees near our houses, too.  Why don’t you go bird-watching this fall and learn about the nature around you?
